Here in Country House, not a day goes by without memories of Trish - some of joy, some of sorrow, some of admiration, some of pain and many of fun and laughter. All of them are of love. Life was not a bed of roses, of course, and Trish had to struggle with more than just her illness. Although I did my best to be supportive, I will never forgive myself for responding so badly at times to the stresses that faced Trish and and our life together. I apologise for my behaviour to everyone who supported us, in the good times as well as the tough times, and wish that life could have been different for all of us - but especially for Trish. She was simply the most remarkable person - and I loved her dearly from the moment we met. She provided love, inspiration, laughter, wise advice, fun, determination, focus, joy and energy to everyone around her, and all of that continues to be sorely missed. I have added a number of photos which naturally recall the good times, which were extremely plentiful, and choose to remember and cherish those. The memories still help me to learn and to grow, as I’m sure they do for many of us. So Happy Birthday, my darling Trish. As I raise a glass of champagne to you this evening, I will do so with all of my heart - hoping that you’re enjoying the occasion wherever you are, even though I know you’d have really loved to be celebrating it in style with a party for family and friends... All my love, always, James xox
